Well, they've had MxPx back on the label for a little bit now. But this band I am really liking, Children 18:3. You can check them out at http://www.myspace.com/children183 and at http://www.children183.com.
Now I would love to see a ska band or two! The Supertones getting back together would be really nice, though I don't see that happening. Maybe getting the Dingees back on the label would be good.
Anyway, I checked out their one song from the new album up on MySpace, as well as some older tunes. This band seems to have an edginess and energy that many christian punk bands had in the 90s, but seem to have lost since 2000. Over ten years ago, I was really getting into bands like MxPx and 90 Pound Wuss, and some bands that weren't on Tooth and Nail like Dogwood, Crashdog, etc. Dogwood's first album, Good Ol' Daze, in my opinion, was still the best and very different from any other album they put out, including the stuff they put out on Tooth and Nail when they were signed to that label. Children 18:3 reminds me of the scene ten years ago, when I found it more enjoyable.
So, is Tooth and Nail finally on it's way to being back to being more of a punk label again, the one they were in the 90s? I don't know. I don't know that it can ever be the same again. But there's still stuff at Tooth and Nail to get excited about.
