Anyway, in the current Transformers series, called Transformers Animated, there is an episode called Garbage In, Garbage Out, where this new robot comes to life. He doesn't know his name, his identity, so he looks to others for help.
Eventually, people call him "worthless wreck" and "walking pile of garbage". So he thinks that his name is "worthless wreck walking pile of garbage". He runs into one of the human villans, Angry Archer, who shortens his name to Wreck-Gar. He is so easily influenced by this.
At one point, he thinks he's an Autobot (one of the good guys) and Ratchet (another Autobot) tells Wreck-Gar "You're not an Autobot and you never will be. You're only good for one thing, GARBAGE!" So Wreck-gar says "I am Wreck-Gar. I am only good for one thing, GARBAGE! I must deliver Garbage for all."
When we don't know our identity in Christ, we can easily be manipulated by others, and believe things about ourselves that aren't true. At that point, we truly become good for one thing, GARBAGE! And we deliver garbage to all.
Some of us struggle with that identity But also, sometimes we put others down, even as Christians, sadly. We don't always realize how the things we say to people affect people.
And ultimately, in this episode, the whole city of Detroit is in danger, just because of what Ratchet said to Wreck-Gar. Sometimes, when we put others down, we get something like the events of Columbine High School where people who don't believe right things about themselves put others in danger. Most cases probably aren't that extreme, but even so, we need to correct these situations when we do hurt others.
Think about if you've said anything to hurt others. Ask the Holy Spirit. He will convict you. We're supposed to edify each other, not tear each other down. Go to that person and apologize.
Now, enjoy this episode of Transformers Animated. It's my favorite episode.
