Do you consider yourself a good listener?
I want to challenge that.
Do you listen to people, and not interrupt them while they're speaking, even if you feel the need to interrupt them?
Do you not let things like your cell phone distract you while you are "listening"?
Do you pay 100% attention to them?
Do you choose not to give them advice on something unless they tell you they want advice? Or are you the one trying to give advice when that's not what they're looking for?
Think about it.
When we "listen" to people, we may not realize it, but we often interject when they're not finished. We often pick up our cell phones. We often get distracted by something. We often give the person advice they didn't ask for. Are you doing that? If so, you are not listening.
Just some thoughts. I've been guilty of it on occasion myself. But I am making an effort to be a good listener.
